
Michael Linwood Jones
On Jan. 16, deputies with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the N.C. State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop on US Highway 421 in Yadkinville. An N.C. State Highway Patrol trooper had stopped a vehicle for a registration violation. The vehicle was being operated by Michael Linwood Jones, age 49, of Wilkes County.
Jones had an outstanding warrant for arrest out of Yadkin County for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. This warrant was entered by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office in December of 2022 following a search warrant being executed at Jones’ motel room in Jonesville. During this traffic stop Jones was found in possession of a Rough Rider .22 Magnum revolver/handgun, 4.8 grams of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Jones was arrested and charged with two felony counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, one felony count of Possession of Methamphetamine, one felony count of Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale/Use of Methamphetamine, and two misdemeanor counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Jones was also issued citations by the N.C. Highway Patrol for Driving While License Revoked, Give/Lend/Borrow Registration Plate, Expired Inspection, No Insurance, Fail to Register Motor Vehicle, and Seat Belt Violation.
Jones received a $50,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in court in Yadkin County on Jan. 18.
Other charges may follow pending the results of a search warrant obtained on Jan. 17 by the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office.
